Improving Sentence Length

August 5, 2012

Lately I have been feeling the need to expand my Korean sentences. For some reason, I can understand long sentences, but I can never write them. It feel frustrating because my sentences never sound natural since they’re lacking in size. Of course, I do realize that size does not accurately illustrate skills/ability, but I think it does to some extent. I never see long sentences until I read news articles or something formal so it’s really hard for me to replicate because they aren’t really colloquial or appropriate for normal situations.

Anyways, I have been studying some Japanese this week. I’m not really motivated because I really don’t have any interest in Japanese culture or language (no offense to all my otaku peeps). Nonetheless, I find it really fun to learn Japanese since I study it through Korean.

I have also been listening to podcasts through iTunes since my listening skills are legitimately poop. My reading and writing is ok, but my listening… not so much. I think it kind of defeats the whole purpose of learning Korean if I’m unable to verbally communicate with other people, right?

Ahhh, summer days~
