Happy New Years!

I just wanted to document that that I finished a Japanese novel in two days! I started reading 好きなら一生 half way through Sunday and finished Monday around the same time.

I originally got this book in the middle of the Fall 2014 spring semester, but it was so hard for me to read for some reason so I quit reading it. After the same thing happening to me when reading 凍りのくじら, I went back to this book – and it wasn’t as challenging as it was as the first time. I think the long pages made it seem intimidating so it made it seem intimidating, or maybe it was just because I was extremely busy with my school courses.

Overall, the story was simple and predictable (mostly because of the cover). Either way, reading is always great for practicing, and I enjoy light stories. I think sometimes we forget that stories don’t have to be completely unrealistic. It just bugged me how 毛利薫 changed his view on 根岸孝介 completely after meeting his child… but I guess in real life our views on someone can change instantly.

I ordered two new books – one that will be shipped on the 23rd of this month, and one that has already shipped so I can have a book to read in the meantime. I don’t think I will be continuing to read 凍りのくじら. Originally, I was trying to venture into new types of genres, but it appears that only books about male homosexual relationships is the only genre that interests me

My new journal arrived yesterday before the new year started. I really find it sad that most of the population has left journaling. Personally, I am getting a little tired of the internet so I find simple pen and paper very pleasing. It feels extremely therapeutic. It allows me to keep private thoughts, but still recording them so they won’t be forgotten. I started a journal in November 2013, and managed to keep writing in it until the end of 2014. I wanted to see if I would be able to keep a journal for a year – and I did! So I really wanted to treat myself to a more high quality notebook with bright color. Most people do keep a journal, but it is usually on Facebook.
